چکیده

Business Processes describe operations of an organization. However, they do not take into account such aspects as detailed logic specification or process implementation. Business Rules are generally better suited for these purposes. Although there is ongoing research on integration of Business Processes with Business Rules, there is no standardized methodology for this integration. We propose a new method of providing visual rule modeling for specification of Business Process logic. In the paper, an outline of the integration of BPMN Business Processes with XTT2 Business Rules is sketched. The method allows for translating selected BPMN models to the XTT2 Business Rules, and executing them using the HeaRT rule engine. AGH University of Science and Technology, al. A. Proposal of a Hierarchical Approach to Formal Verification of BPMN Models Using Alvis and XTT2 Methods∗

BPMN is a visual notation for modeling business processes. Although there are many tools supporting it, they rarely provide formal verification of models. We propose a new approach to formal verification of BPMN models using the Alvis modeling language and the XTT2 knowledge representation. The structure of the BPMN model can be analyzed using translation to Alvis. Alvis models can be verified ...

Visual Inference Specification Methods for Modularized Rulebases. Overview and Integration Proposal

The paper concerns selected rule modularization techniques. Three visual methods for inference specification for modularized rulebases are described: Drools Flow, BPMN and XTT2. Drools Flow is a popular technology for workflow or process modeling, BPMN is an OMG standard for modeling business processes, and XTT2 is a hierarchical tabular system specification method. Because of some limitations ...

Enriching Business Processes with Rules

BPMN is a leading visual notation for modeling Business Processes. Although it can be efficiently used for modeling workflow structures, it is not suitable for modeling the low-level logic of particular tasks in the process. Recently, Business Rules have been used for this purpose. Such rules are often specified in natural language and in an informal way. In this paper, we consider an approach ...

Uml Representation for Rule-Based Application Models with XTT2-Based Business Rules

In this paper challenges of using Knowledge Engineering methods in the Software Engineering practice, with focus on the visual design methods for software applications, are discussed. The paper concerns practical design issues of rule-based models integrated with business applications built using the Model-View-Controller (MVC), or equivalent architectural pattern. The Unified Modeling Language...

ChOrDa: a methodology for the modeling of business processes with BPMN

In this paper we present a modeling methodology for BPMN, the standard notation for the representation of business processes. Our methodology simplifies the development of collaborative BPMN diagrams, enabling the automated creation of skeleton process diagrams representing complex choreographies. To evaluate and tune the methodology, we have developed a tool supporting it, that we apply to the...
